There is more than one eligibility question
Whether you can enroll in a course and whether you can later qualify for a particular credential are separate questions. Do not assume every school requires a degree, and do not assume that acceptance by a school proves eligibility for an external credential. Check the exact path you intend to buy.
Use the current official eligibility checklist
Our shared credential checklist links the current NBHWC education or work route, along with the other requirements. Read the official form instructions and ask the body directly if your documentation is unusual. We cannot determine whether your credits or experience will be accepted, and the program finder does not approve eligibility. [S01]
Education or work route (one of)
- Associate degree or higher
- 60 college credits
- 4,000 work hours
Other requirements
- Completion of an approved training program
- Qualifying practice sessions after a skills assessment
- Board application and examination
Board fees (separate from tuition)
Check school-specific conditions
An individual program can have entry criteria beyond a credential body's general route. Some schools may offer exceptions that require an admissions decision. An exception described on a website is not automatic approval for you. Request confirmation for your situation before you pay a nonrefundable charge.
Entry requirements in our researched sample
What each program's main path lists as entry requirements. “Not verified” means we have not found a reliable statement, not that there are no requirements.

Compare entry barriers as well as price
A cheap advertised course is not a useful shortcut if you must later purchase another component or cannot enter the intended path. Look at prerequisites, required practice, attendance, completion deadlines, and which certificate is issued. The catalog marks unknown entry information instead of assuming open admission.
Ask clear questions
Tell admissions the education or work route you can document, the exact course you want, and the credential you hope to pursue. Ask whether you qualify for admission, which documents are needed, and which later requirements remain. Do not send personal records to Healthy Consultants; use the school's or credential body's appropriate secure channel.
A two-column worksheet
Keep school entry and the later credential application apart: they are decided by different organizations.

Choose a route you can document
Use the program finder for an initial shortlist, then inspect the sources and admissions conditions. If you do not yet meet the relevant criteria, consider your timing and whether building the required experience or education first is more sensible than buying training immediately. No course should be presented as a guarantee that an external requirement disappears.

Reader questions
- Can I train as a health coach without a degree?
- It depends on the exact program and the credential you want. Schools set their own entry rules, and a credential body’s eligibility is a separate question. Check both for your situation before paying.
- Does the program finder decide whether I am eligible?
- No. It compares training using your answers. It does not approve admission or credential eligibility.
- If a school accepts me, am I eligible for the board credential?
- Not necessarily. Acceptance by a school does not prove eligibility for an external credential, and a program can admit you without resolving every later credential condition.
