How the ledger is calculated

  • Training subtotal = required module tuition + required course add-ons
  • Known path cost = training subtotal + known mandatory materials/assessment fees + credential application/exam fees when that path is selected
  • User planning total = known path cost + user-added estimates
  • Completion state: complete known, known minimum with unknowns, or quote required

Every line item is marked included, optional, not included, or amount unknown. If a required cost is unknown, the headline says Known minimum, never Total cost. Each amount shows its currency, source and checked date. An optional item never silently becomes mandatory, and a bundle price is never added on top of its own components.

Payment plans and discounts

Pay-in-full and installment plans are separate price modes. Total installment payable = deposit + all payments + documented finance or admin fees. When the number or amount of payments is unknown, the calculator says: Request a payment-plan quote. A monthly amount is never treated as total tuition. A promotional price is used only while its terms and expiry are verified; otherwise the calculator falls back to the list price or a quote. The calculator gives no financing advice or loan recommendation.

Worked examples: case and required behavior

  • Known training $2,848; optional $200 prep; external credential fees $500

    Required behavior
    Known path $3,348 before other unresolved mandatory extras. Optional prep remains separate unless selected.

  • Wellcoaches modular path

    Required behavior
    Use the verified module subtotal; add the required Lifestyle Medicine amount only when confirmed. Until then display known minimum with that extra unresolved.

  • Tri-C residency

    Required behavior
    Use the correct per-credit rate × required credits plus institutional/online fees if applicable; no universal "under $500" headline.

  • Price stale / unavailable

    Required behavior
    Hide exact stale sale values. Offer source link and "Current quote required"; exclude from price ranking.

What the calculator does not include

  • Taxes, unless a school states them as part of the price.
  • Travel, materials and other personal costs, unless you add your own estimates.
  • Your lost work time, childcare, or every personal expense.
  • A separate board credential’s fees, unless you choose a board goal: then they appear as their own lines. [S01]

Ask admissions for a written answer to each, and save the reply.

  • An itemized amount for the exact path you intend to complete

  • Every mandatory requirement: materials, mentoring, assessment and administrative fees

  • The payment-plan total: deposit, number and amount of payments, and any fees

  • Expiry dates and conditions for any discount

  • Withdrawal and refund terms

  • Possible retake fees

  • Whether access to later modules depends on finishing the payments
