Short answer: Several weight-loss and nutrition apps now include an AI coach, and in most of them it sits in a paid tier. As of November 2, 2026, Noom's Welli comes with its paid coaching, MyNetDiary's AI Coach is in its $99.99-a-year Premium Plus plan, Cronometer's Crono Coach is in Gold at $10.99 a month or $59.99 a year, and the Google Health Coach comes with Google Health Premium at $9.99 a month or $99 a year. [S03] [S05] [S06] [S07] Research on AI coaching for weight loss is still early, so treat these tools as helpers for logging and habits, not as a substitute for medical care. [S10] [S11]

How we compared them

We looked at apps that put an AI coaching feature front and center and publish their prices. For each one, we read the company's own pricing and help pages on November 2, 2026, and noted which plan includes the AI coach, what it costs, and any limits the company states. Prices change often, and several of these companies note that promotions or signup method can affect what you pay. [S01]

For a broader look at apps with and without coaching, see our Noom alternatives hub and our comparison of apps like Noom.

The sections below explain what each one includes and where the limits are. [S01] [S05] [S06] [S07] [S08]

Noom: Welli plus human coaches

Noom offers several kinds of coaching, from AI support to human coaches, and says coaching is only available with a paid subscription. [S03] Welli is Noom's AI chat. Noom suggests asking it general health or nutrition questions, recipes and food swaps, habit questions and how-to questions about the program. [S03] It also tells members not to ask Welli for medical or clinical advice, or for personalized answers based on their age, weight or goals. [S03]

As of November 2, 2026, Noom lists Noom Weight at $70 for one month or $209 for twelve months, before taxes or discounts. [S01] Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and medication isn't included. [S01] Noom's Premium add-on includes a dedicated 1:1 coach, personalized meal and exercise plans, and 24/7 support from Welli. It's charged separately from Noom Weight, and its support page doesn't list a price. [S04] You can cancel in the app, on the web or through your app store, and access lasts until the end of the billing period. [S02]

If you're weighing Noom's human coaching, our guide to whether Noom coaches are certified covers what those coaches can and can't do.

MyNetDiary: AI Coach in Premium Plus

MyNetDiary has a free tier and three paid options. [S05] The AI tools, including AI Coach, AI voice logging, restaurant menu scanning and meal suggestions, are only in Premium Plus, which costs $99.99 a year as of November 2, 2026. [S05] The regular Premium plan, at $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year, doesn't include those AI features, and neither does the $179.99 Lifetime option. [S05] MyNetDiary says it doesn't show ads in either tier. [S05]

Cronometer: Crono Coach in Gold

Cronometer's Basic plan is free. [S06] Crono Coach, which Cronometer describes as an in-app assistant that turns your own data, goals and settings into short, personalized guidance, is part of Gold. [S06] As of November 2, 2026, Gold costs $10.99 a month billed monthly, or $59.99 a year billed annually. [S06]

Google Health Coach: Google Health Premium

Google's coach, built with Gemini, is part of Google Health Premium, formerly Fitbit Premium. [S07] [S08] As of November 2, 2026, it costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year, and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get it at no extra cost. [S07] Google's store currently offers a trial period, after which the subscription renews at $9.99 a month unless you cancel. [S07] [S08] You can log meals by snapping a photo and then chat with the coach about nutrition. [S08]

There are real limits. Google's help page says the coach is currently only for users who have a Fitbit or Pixel Watch and are over 18. [S09] It also says these tools aren't intended for medical purposes and that you should check the generated responses for accuracy. [S09] You can check, remove or delete the data you've shared with the coach. [S09]

Do AI weight-loss coaches actually work?

The honest answer is that the research is young. A 2021 systematic review found only nine studies of chatbots for physical activity, diet and weight loss. Most of the activity studies looked promising, but there were too few diet and weight studies to draw firm conclusions. [S10]

A 2025 review of conversational agents for healthy eating included 10 studies. Two reported more fruit and vegetable intake, one found better adherence to a Mediterranean-style diet, and one randomized trial showed modest weight loss and a smaller waist. [S11] Effects on other parts of the diet were mixed, and many participants dropped out. [S11] None of these studies tested the specific apps in this comparison, so no one can say from the research which of them works best.

What that means in practice: an AI coach can make logging easier and answer everyday questions quickly. Whether it helps you lose weight depends mostly on whether you keep using it and act on what it suggests.

What to check before you pay

  • Which plan has the AI coach. At MyNetDiary and Cronometer, the AI feature is in a higher tier, not the cheapest paid plan. [S05] [S06]
  • Device requirements. The Google Health Coach needs a Fitbit or Pixel Watch for now. [S09]
  • Human support. If you want a person to talk to, check whether the plan includes a human coach. Noom's 1:1 coach is in its separately billed Premium add-on. [S04] Our guide to what a health coach does explains what that role usually covers.
  • Renewal and cancellation. Know when the plan renews and how to cancel before you sign up. [S01] [S02]
  • Medical questions. None of these tools are meant for medical advice. [S03] [S09] Questions about medication, symptoms or conditions belong with your doctor.

If you'd rather avoid a subscription altogether, our list of free weight loss apps with no subscription covers apps with a usable free tier.

A different kind of daily support

Not everyone wants another chat window. Olive is a health companion that checks in with you every day, looks at what you eat, and helps you build small habits that actually hold. It's free to try, then a cancellable subscription. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything, so health questions still belong with your doctor.

Reader questions

What is an AI weight-loss coach?
It's a chat-style feature inside a weight-loss or nutrition app that answers questions and gives tips based on what you log, such as meals, activity or sleep. Examples include Noom's Welli, MyNetDiary's AI Coach, Cronometer's Crono Coach and the Google Health Coach.
Are AI weight-loss coaches free?
Usually not. As of November 2, 2026, the AI coaching features covered here are part of paid plans: Noom's coaching requires a paid subscription, MyNetDiary's AI Coach is in Premium Plus, Crono Coach is in Cronometer Gold, and the Google Health Coach comes with Google Health Premium, which is free to try, then a cancellable subscription.
Do AI weight-loss coaches work?
The research is early. A 2021 review found chatbots may help people move more but couldn't draw firm conclusions about diet or weight loss. A 2025 review saw some gains in healthy eating and one trial with modest weight loss, but many people stopped using the tools. None of these reviews tested the specific apps compared here.
Is an AI coach as good as a human coach?
They do different jobs. An AI chat can answer general questions any time, while a human coach can help with goals and motivation over time. Noom, for example, sends medical and personalized questions away from its AI chat. If you want a person, check whether a plan includes a human coach before you pay.
Can an AI coach give medical advice?
No. Noom tells members not to ask Welli for medical or clinical advice, and Google says its health coaching tools aren't intended for medical purposes and that you should check responses for accuracy. Questions about medication, symptoms or health conditions belong with your doctor.
Does Noom have an AI coach?
Yes. Welli is Noom's AI chat for general nutrition questions, recipes, habits and how-to help. Coaching requires a paid subscription, and Noom's Premium add-on, billed separately, pairs 24/7 Welli support with a 1:1 human coach.
